During 2008-2014, the Fed implemented QE1 to 3 QE three times to respond to the global financial crisis and stimulate the economy, and carried out large-scale asset purchases in AMBS

 

After the end of the tapering, interest rate hikes started at the end of 2015, and the balance sheet normalization work was carried out from October 2017 to August 2019 by reducing the level of assets held. At the FOMC meeting in December 2015, the Fed raised the benchmark interest rate from 0.25 to 0.50%, ending the era of zero interest rates and raising it one more time in 2016.
